NetApp releases 2023 Cloud Complexity Report

 

Broadcom CEO Hock Tan is attending a hearing in Brussels  on the company’s proposed $61B acquisition of VMware.

 Tan is looking to convince EU regulators that the deal is not anti-competitive and will not result in increased prices, reduced quality, or stifled innovation.   

• The proposed buyout has been approved by regulatory agencies in Australia, Brazil, Canada, and South Africa but has faced scrutiny from EU , U.K. , and U.S. regulators, who are yet to make a final decision. 
• Tan will meet with senior European Commission officials, members of national competition agencies, and lawyers from the EU executive. 
• Broadcom requested an oral hearing following the European Commission’s objection to the deal last month. 
• The U.S. chipmaker will be given the opportunity to offer remedies after today’s hearing. 
• The EU must issue a final decision on the matter by June 21, which will be extended once concessions are submitted.
