Musk forms AI company

Twitter owner Elon Musk has  formed an artificial intelligence company  called X.AI Corp, according to a filing.   The name reflects the branding of  X Corp ., the moniker that Musk has  now given to Twitter Inc . Musk incorporated X.AI Corp. in Nevada on  March 9 . The billionaire is listed as the director, and his family office director, Jared Birchall, is named as the company's secretary. Last week, it was reported that Musk was assembling a team of AI experts to  launch an AI startup  that would compete against OpenAI, the research organization he helped co-found and  then left  before  criticizing  as "a closed source maximum-profit company." The CEO is said to be in talks with some SpaceX and Tesla investors about funding the AI venture. Meanwhile, legal documents  revealed  that Twitter Inc. "no longer exists" upon merging with X Corp., a shell firm. In a recent interview with Fox News' Tucker Carlson, Musk said he would  launch "TruthGPT,"  which he referred to as a "maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe." Musk said he believes TruthGPT may be "the best path to safety" as "an AI that cares about understanding the universe is unlikely to annihilate humans because we are an interesting part of the universe." In  separate remarks on Twitter , Musk expressed fears about AI, agreeing with a poster's comment that AI will hit people "like an asteroid" in five to 10 years. Musk said he saw AI's exponential growth "happening from well before GPT-1," which is why he tried to warn people "for years." He claimed a one-on-one meeting he held with then-President Barack Obama was to promote AI regulation, not Tesla or SpaceX.
