AWS debuts MediaConnect Gateway

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced  AWS Elemental MediaConnect Gateway  to its suite of media services.  This new offering is a cloud-connected software application that enables secure, reliable live video transport.  AWS claims MediaConnect Gateway is ideal for customers who run 24/7 TV channels or stream live events as it allows them to quickly transport live streams into, through, and out of the cloud and at a lower cost.   According to the AWS  website , MediaConnect Gateway can transport live video footage from an on-premises source or another MediaConnect source and send it to one or more destinations.  Users can leverage industry-standard encryption to secure live videos and add a quality-of-service layer over standard IP transport to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality video content.  The software application also connects to AWS monitoring services, such as  Amazon CloudWatch , to provide an overview of network performance metrics. Users can also view, monitor, and control live video feeds using the  AWS Management Console .
