Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has just announced the general availability (GA) of Amazon VPC Lattice , a capability of Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) that assists with traffic management in cloud environments.
AWS officially debuted Amazon VPC Lattice at AWS re:Invent 2022 last December.
- According to the AWS website , Amazon VPC Lattice allows companies to establish policies for traffic management, network access, and monitoring to facilitate the connection of applications across AWS computing services.
- VPC Lattice is said to integrate with AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) to provide users with more familiar authentication and authorization capabilities.
- AWS claims VPC Lattice can provide an overview of network connections and track useful metrics, including the amount of traffic generated by each application and network requests based on type.
- The GA of the service opens access to new capabilities , which include the ability to use a custom domain name in addition to the domain name automatically generated by VPC lattice, the option to deploy the open-source AWS Gateway API controller, the choice to use an Application Load Balancer (ALB) or a Network Load Balancer (NLB) as a target for a service, and support for IPv6 connectivity.
